12/29 Happy Anniversary

Today Jerry and I have been married for 18 years. Can you believe it? 18 years ago today at 2pm Jerry and I were married at the First Christian Church in Tuscola. But what an awful weekend it was for us. Here is a reminder of what happened. On Friday the 28Th, we were at Jerry's mom's house finishing up last minute things before the wedding. I went to leave in Jerry's car and got it stuck in some snow. Jerry was coming outside to get the car out of the snow. He slipped on some ice on the front porch and fell. He hit his head on the concrete and he had a concussion. Unfortunately he missed his bachelor party:) The next morning, there was a lot of snow on the ground and it was foggy all day. The wedding was awesome despite the weather. That night after the reception, Jerry and i went to Mattoon to stay overnight in a hotel. When we went out the next morning to get into the car, it was iced over. Jerry went to unlock the car and the key broke off in the lock. The spare key was in the trunk in my purse (great place for it)We called a locksmith to come unlock the door, but the only thing he managed to do was break the window. So now we had a broken key, broken window and it was freezing rain outside. So we got the spare key from the truck and drove back to Tuscola with no window and freezing rain. Needless to say we were both very sick the following week. But here we are 18 years later and we look back on that day and have to laugh. So here is to 18 years of marriage with the most wonderful person in the world my husband, my best friend and most of all the father of my children. I love you infinity!

Christmas

Well, the knight's had a good Christmas. The only thing missing was Jordan:( Jessica and Jami got the Ipod Nano's that they wanted and Jenny got another American Girl Doll. She now has 3. But the one thing she wanted the most was a Pittsburgh Steelers jersey. So Jerry found her one and she was so happy. The knight family got Guitar Hero World Tour complete with guitar, drums and a microphone. Someone please shoot me now!!!! This thing never seems to shut off and Jerry seems to be the band leader. Hope every had a Merry Christmas. Please have a safe and Happy New Year!

Jordan sent another letter this week. He only has about 3 1/2 weeks of basic left. WOW!!! It has been going fast. He is doing great. He took a test to go into Phase 2 of Basis and he only missed 1 on it. They are learning to march for graduation. He said it is really frustrating because some of the guys just don't get it! They Navy made him get his wisdom teeth pulled. They did that last week. He said he is doing fine. Jordan graduates on Jan 23rd. Jerry and I are taking the girls to Chicago for the weekend to see him graduate and spend some time with him before he leaves for FL. I will post pics from graduation when we get back.

Letter from Jordan 12/18/08

Received another letter from Jordan today. He said that Basic is getting better. He is starting to really miss the lack of technology there(phone, computer, tv). He has his first inspection on Friday to to see if they were wearing their uniforms right, bunks were made correct and that their clothes were folded correctly. Jordan and his bunk mate were 2 of only about 100 guys there that got a perfect score. He has made a bunch of friends and said that his bunk mate is Hawaiian. Jordan's graduation date has been set for January 23rd. He is really ready to be done with basic. He also said thanks to everyone for the letters. He really appreciates all the support he is receiving from back home.

Will keep you posted as we receive letters.

Got our first letter from Jordan today. He is having a rough time. Here is a little of what he said in his letter. He said that it is his 3rd day and it is pretty hard. "I don't know what i got myself into". We are getting yelled at a lot here and we are only processing in. Our training actually begins on Tuesday Dec 2nd. We had a nice Thanksgiving meal, but once it was over we went back to getting yelled at. Jordan said he loves and misses everyone. Here is Jordan's address if anyone would like to write to him or send him a card. He can not have any packages.

Jordan left for basic training with the Navy this morning. He was taken to St. Louis where he will finish his paperwork then tomorrow at 1pm they will take him to Great Lakes, IL where he will begin basic. His basic is 8 weeks long and he is slated to graduate on Jan 9th. He is then heading down to Pensacola,FL for 4 months of Avionics training. They will give him a 4 day weekend during Easter, so we are going to get him a ticket so he can fly home. We should receive his new address at basic on Wednesday and i will post it so anyone who wants can write him.

Well, Since Jordan is leaving for the Navy in 24 days, we decided that we needed to have one last family picture taken. So we went out to Wimple Park here in Tuscola and one of Jordan's friends took some pictures of us with my camera. They turned out really good.

Well, Jenny had a fun Halloween. There was no school because of teacher conferences so she got to spend the day doing what ever she wanted and most of all sleeping in! For Halloween Jenny was a Skella-rocker-girl and her cousin Haleigh was a vampire. They went to all our friends houses and got too much candy. We had to put some of the chocolate in the freezer for another time. But they had alot of fun!

Soccer

Jenny is playing soccer again. She has been playing for 3 years now. She loves it. Saturday she played in Villa Grove and she scored her first goal EVER!! We credit Uncle Jay for that one. Jenny said that he came and watched her play and brought her good luck.

Homecoming Dance

Annual Homecoming dance was on Saturday October 4th. Jessica took her boyfriend (Austen) with her and Jami just wanted to go with some of her friends. The girls both looked so pretty. Hard to beleive we have 2 girls in High School. They are having so much fun together. They also have a cousin that is in High School with them. His name is James. He is Jerry's brothers oldest boy. They also live in Tuscola

Homecoming at TCHS

Jami and Jessica participated in Spirit week for Homecoming. One of the fun events is Powder Puff football(Flag Football for girls). Juniors play the Seniors and Freshman play the Sophomores.Jami (Freshman) participated and had a lot of fun even though her team got slaughtered by the Sophomores. The boys also do role reversal and some of them dressed as cheerleaders. Jessica is on Student Council and helped organize it. She didn't want to play this year. It was pretty brutal and one girl even got a concussion from it.

Dad's Awesome Hobby

I found out something about my dad that i didn't fully understand until i saw it in person. His hobby is model trains. He took us down to the place where he works on model trains and wow was it amazing. I have included some pictures of the displays he has been working on. GREAT JOB DAD!!!

Seven Falls

Thursday night the whole family went to Seven Falls. This is a really neat place to visit. Some of us were smart and rode the elevator up to the top of the mountain while others decided to trek up the 245 steps to view the falls. Jessica and Jami dances with the native americans. What a beautiful place.
